LPU THORChain Updates (Early Nov 2022)
In this series, LPU aims to give regular condensed “state of THORChain” updates. Enjoy!
1. Avalanche AVAX Integration
Native AVAX and the AVAX.USDC pools went live in early Oct. However, there was a minor outbound fee bug which caused small swaps to AVAX to fail (users refunded minus some gas fees), and also delayed the AVAX Dex aggregator roll-out. These were fixed with the v1.98 update on 27-Oct.
2. AVAX Double-spend Bug and AVAX Halt
On 20-Oct, a bug on the AVAX code led to a double-spend of around 1200 AVAX.USDC, and the automatic solvency checker halted the AVAX chain. This was a great test of the solvency checker functioning as expected. AVAX chain was restarted a couple of days later after v1.97.3 patched the bug.

3. Consensus Error and THORChain Halt
On 27-Oct, once v1.98 went live, a consensus error occurred leading to THORChain being halted (consensus error means no new blocks can be produced). This was quickly investigated, patched to v1.98.1, and back to business 20.5 hrs later.
4. Node Churn Frequency
On 2-Nov, the node churn frequency was adjusted from 7 days to 3 days. This was in response to the recent churns where more than expected nodes were churned out, leading to high standby nodes count. Once total node count is re-stabilized, node churn frequency will be reset back to 7 day cadence.
5. AVAX Dex Aggregator Roll-out
Code was all ready for AVAX Dex Aggregator roll-out with v1.98.1. On 7-Nov, THORSwap made an announcement that their roll-out was live.
6. Savers Vault
Code for Savers Vaults went live with v1.98 update, for all gas assets, initially without yield.
A signaling vote by nodes operators was passed on 4-Nov.
On 7-Nov, ChadB tweeted that some minor bugs need to be patched in v1.99, plus final readiness of frontends, before enabling yield for Savers Vaults: https://twitter.com/CBarraford/status/1589777461445029888
Protocol Own Liquidity activation will be slightly down the road, and possibly activated only for BTC pool first to start with.
