LPU THORChain Updates (Mar 2023)

In this series, LPU aims to give regular condensed “state of THORChain” updates. Enjoy!

1. BCH and LTC Chains Halted

On 6-Mar, BCH trading was re-enabled after Devs deemed the mitigation work was sufficient.

LTC trading was also re-enabled shortly after, following v1.106 update.

2. Lending on Stagenet with v1.107

THORFi lending landed on Stagenet with v1.107, and thus, the world’s first decentralized loan based on native BTC was tested: https://twitter.com/pluto9r/status/1635351068052955142

There would be weeks/months of testing below a slow roll-out to Mainnet.

3. Potential Polygon zkEVM Integration

On, 13-Mar, a Discord Spaces was held with a Polygon representative to discuss possible integration with new Polygon zkEVM chain: https://youtu.be/rocXWICPfWs

4. Cosmos Hub / Gaia / Atom Hardfork

On 15-Mar, the ATOM chain was halted to enable the nodes to update for the ATOM hardfork. Trading was re-enabled 12 hours later.

5. Avalanche Chain Halts

On 23-Mar, and again on 26-Mar, Avalanche C-chain faced some issues, necessitating THORChain nodes to halt this chain and upgrade their Avalanche daemons. In both cases, trading was re-enabled shortly after.

6. THORChain Global Halt Due to Potential Dependency Vulnerability

On 28-Mar, all trading was halted on THORChain, due to claims of a potential vulnerability with a THORChain dependency that may affect THORChain. Trading was re-enabled five hours later, after Devs determined that it was safe. However, node churning will be paused until the vulnerability could be patched, which may take a few weeks.
