LPU THORChain Updates (Sep 2023)

In this series, LPU aims to give regular condensed “state of THORChain” updates. Enjoy!

1. Binance Smart Chain (BSC) Launched

On 10-Sep, BSC Asgard Vaults were created. On 16-Sep, with some minor bug fixes and enabling of the router for BSC, the backend was fully ready (including Synths & Savers).

On 20-Sep, THORWallet Dex was the first frontend to enable BSC support: https://x.com/thorchain/status/1704614292635480545.

On 29-Sep, THORSwap enabled BSC support, together with Dex Aggregation into PancakeSwap: https://x.com/THORSwap/status/1707844139310788824.

2. ShapeShift Snap for MetaMask Launched

On 12-Sep, ShapeShift launched their MetaMask Snap, enabling MetaMask users to store and access cross-chain native coins/swaps.

3. Gaia Cosmos Atom Halted

On 13-Sep, the Gaia chain was halted in a pre-planned move to cater for the announced Gaia chain hardfork. After all the requisite updates by the nodes, trading was re-enabled on 15-Sep.

4. Ethereum Chain Halted

On 21-Sep, the Ethereum chain was automatically halted by the solvency checker. An unusual gas spike on the Ethereum blockchain caused an edge case in THORChain, resulting in double signing of ETH outbounds from two Asgard vaults. Trading was renabled around eight hours later.

5. First Loan Repayment

At the time of writing, Collaterization Ratio is near 300%, and 1.13m RUNE has been burnt via Lending so far.
