TCU THORChain Updates (Dec 2023)

In this series, TCU aims to give regular condensed “state of THORChain” updates. Enjoy!

1. Full Sunset of Grandfathered ILP (Amendment of ADR005)

On 6-Dec, with Node Mimir voting reaching consensus, all ILP was fully retired. This includes the previously grandfathered ILP. Please check full details from last month’s update.

2. Binance Smart Chain (BSC) Issues

On 6-Dec, BSC was halted in preparation for the BSC hardfork. However, after the update, nodes had severe difficulties to sync the chain and thus was unable to restart. On 12-Dec, v1.125 was pushed to alleviate this, and BSC was restarted on 13-Dec.

Few days later, BSC again was unstable with stuck inbound/outbound transactions, and trading was halted on 18-Dec. V1.125.3 was released, and BSC trading was re-enabled around 24 hours later.

3. Trading Halt

On 12-Dec, when pushing out the v1.125 update, some outbound transactions were observed to be severely delayed. This led to a global trading halt on 13-Dec for troubleshooting. After discovering a transient error with parsing keysign blocks, nodes were instructed to restart bifrost to fix the issue. Nine hours later, the issue was resolved and trading was re-enabled.

4. AVAX Outbound Issue

V1.125 introduced some outbound bug for AVAX. On 16-Dec, v1.125.2 was pushed to relieve this. However, there were still stuck transactions, and on 19-Dec, AVAX trading was halted. On 21-Dec, Devs announced that further work to resolve the issues will only be deployed after the new year:
