TCU THORChain Updates (Jan 2024)

In this series, TCU aims to give regular condensed “state of THORChain” updates. Enjoy!

1. AVAX Chain Restart

AVAX C-chain was halted on THORChain since 19-Dec. On 10-Jan, update v1.126 was pushed to resolve the issues. On 11-Jan, after all nodes had adopted the version, AVAX chain was restarted.

2. DOGE Chain Trading Halt

On 7-Jan, Doge chain was halted, due to a rounding error. Fix was also implemented in the v1.126 update, and DOGE was restarted on 11-Jan.

3. Ethereum Chain Trading Halt

On 10-Jan, a spike in transaction volumes led to the ETH chain facing a high number in the outbound queue. Trading was halted accordingly, and restarted around 20 hours later after the queue had cleared.

4. Swapper Clout Enabled

On 15-Jan, Swapper Clout was enabled. Addresses which have used THORChain for swaps in the past two years, had their total amount of slippage fees paid tracked and aggregated. These addresses will now enjoy a quicker Outbound Delay queue. Arbitrageurs would be the main beneficiary, but all swappers will also enjoy a generally shorter Outbound Delay.

5. BNB Beacon Chain (BEP2) Ragnarok Announcement

With Binance announcing sunset of BEP2 chain by Apr-2024 (https://www.bnbchain.org/en/blog/bep2-bep8-asset-sunset-announcement), THORChain will Ragnarok (auto withdrawal and refund) all BEP2 pools on or after 29-Feb-2024, on best effort basis. Users are recommended to withdraw manually before that date.

Note: For all Binance Beacon Chain BEP2 users, please read the Binance announcement link above. The whole Beacon Chain will be retired (not just limited to THORChain). Anyone still holding BEP2 assets should either bridge it over to the BEP20 equivalent (if available), or dispose of it soonest.
