XRP Swaps Coming to THORChain

THORChain’s integration of XRP Ledger is complete and ready for mainnet deployment. XRP support will go live in May 2025, enabling cross-chain native XRP swaps to Bitcoin, USDT, and more from self-custody without a bridge or centralized exchange.

This marks a major milestone: THORChain will soon support native cross-chain swaps between Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB Chain, Avalanche, Cosmos, Dogecoin, Litecoin, Base and now, XRP. No wrapping, no bridges. Just Layer 1 to Layer 1 swaps.

What This Means

Once live, users will be able to swap native XRP trustlessly for any other asset supported by THORChain: BTC, ETH, AVAX, BNB, ATOM, DOGE, LTC, and more — directly from their self-custody wallets.

This unlocks real utility for XRP holders:

• Buy or sell XRP without using a centralized exchange
• Liquidity is onchain, so you can use it right from your self-custody wallet
• Yield opportunities through liquidity provision
• Native swaps interfaces including THORSwap, Trust Wallet, and Ledger Live

Unlocking $100bn+ of XRP into DeFi

The XRP Ledger is one of the oldest and most battle-tested chains in crypto. It settles transactions in seconds, with extremely low fees. XRP is consistently among the top assets by market cap and trading volume, yet it’s historically been siloed from the broader DeFi ecosystem.

By integrating XRP, THORChain connects it to the wider multi-chain economy — finally enabling permissionless, non-custodial access to DeFi for XRP holders.
