TL;DR

  • Unstoppable Wallet now supports $RUNE, $TCY, $RUJI and THORChain secured assets on Android. The iOS build was still awaiting App Store review during the episode.
  • IBeK said the THORChain integration took roughly two to three weeks of full-time work plus another week of testing. Its open-source mobile libraries could reduce the same job for another wallet to a matter of days.
  • Bonding $RUNE, staking $TCY and adding more app-layer features are next-step possibilities, not finished features or dated commitments.
  • Unstoppable sees privacy-focused swaps, broader DEX aggregation and tokenized assets as natural extensions of THORChain, but each introduces routing, slippage and recovery edge cases that need staged testing.
  • A separate self-custodial stablecoin wallet is already in internal testing. THORChain could help fund it from native assets and may eventually provide fee-free stable-to-stable routes, but that integration is still an idea.

Introduction

Unstoppable Wallet has spent roughly eight years building a native mobile wallet around self-custody, privacy and open-source code. What began after the team lost access to a business bank account has grown into a multi-chain application supporting assets from Bitcoin and Ethereum to shielded Zcash and Monero.

IBeK, founder of Horizontal Systems and the builder behind Unstoppable Wallet, returned to the podcast with Kenton and Denny after the earlier Unstoppable Wallet interview. The first conversation covered the wallet’s privacy architecture and the team’s work on THORChain Swap. This time, the headline was delivery: users can now hold THORChain ecosystem assets directly inside the wallet, and the same integration is being opened for other mobile teams to reuse.

The conversation then widened into what comes next. Unstoppable is considering bonding, staking and app-layer features, while separately testing a stablecoin-focused wallet designed for people who may use crypto rails without thinking of themselves as crypto users.

Unstoppable Wallet connects to official $RUNE, $TCY, $RUJI and secured-asset support nodes.

1. THORChain Assets Arrive in Unstoppable Wallet

The Android release now supports $RUNE, $TCY, $RUJI and secured assets directly inside Unstoppable Wallet. IBeK stressed that this is blockchain and asset support, not merely the ability to route a swap through THORChain. Users can hold and manage those assets inside the application.

The iOS build was not yet live during the recording. It was still in Apple’s review process, and IBeK expected it after the weekend. That distinction matters: Android support was available, while iOS remained pending rather than launched.

Adding THORChain also made support for Maya Protocol relatively straightforward because the two integrations share important architectural similarities. IBeK said the full THORChain build took roughly two to three weeks of concentrated work, followed by about a week of testing.

“It was actually easier than we thought.” (IBeK)

The next feature discussion centered on putting held assets to work. Kenton encouraged the team to add $RUNE bonding and $TCY staking so mobile users would not need a browser wallet for those actions. IBeK said the team would first let the new integration settle, study which features people actually use on THORChain Swap, then decide what to prioritize. Bonding and staking are plausible next steps, not promised releases.

The update also brings Rujira assets closer to the wallet experience. More complex Rujira app-layer primitives may follow, but the current milestone is asset support rather than a complete mobile version of every app-layer product.

2. Open-Source Libraries Lower the Mobile Integration Barrier

Unstoppable’s implementation matters beyond its own users because the underlying mobile libraries are open source. Native mobile wallets often work in Swift or Kotlin rather than the JavaScript stack common in browser applications. A reusable implementation gives those teams a tested starting point instead of forcing them to build THORChain support from scratch.

IBeK estimated that another mobile-first wallet could potentially fork the new work and complete its own integration in a few days. The team planned a broader announcement and an explicit invitation for other builders to clone the libraries after the episode.

That collaborative loop is already part of Unstoppable’s development model. Other wallets have forked its Monero and Zcash code, then returned fixes and improvements that Unstoppable could pull back into its own application. Open source turns competing products into parallel testing surfaces as well as competitors.

The podcast also revisited the harder question raised in the previous THORSday recap: does AI change the security trade-off for sensitive cryptographic code? IBeK supported keeping THORChain’s TSS library closed in the immediate term until its contributors are comfortable that it can withstand automated scrutiny. His longer-term position remained clear.

“Over the long term, I think it should be open source.” (IBeK)

The distinction is between a temporary security response and a permanent trust model. AI makes sophisticated vulnerability discovery cheaper for attackers, but it also strengthens testing, audits and defensive development. IBeK’s view was that the ecosystem needs time to adapt, while foundational decentralized infrastructure ultimately needs inspectable code.

That same caution explains why Unstoppable is not prioritizing a browser extension. The team sees the browser’s large JavaScript dependency surface as harder to secure and maintain, especially as AI-assisted attacks improve. For now, its focus remains native mobile software.

Comparison of a direct $BTC-to-$ETH route and a conceptual privacy-oriented route via Monero or Zcash.

3. Privacy Swaps Could Become an App-Layer Primitive

IBeK sees THORChain as more than a cross-chain DEX. Its programmable layer can support applications built around native assets from several networks, which opens design space beyond a simple one-step swap.

One idea is a privacy-oriented route that uses a private asset between the input and output. A direct $BTC-to-$ETH swap exposes amounts and timing on two transparent chains, making the likely relationship between addresses easier to infer. A route through Monero or shielded Zcash, combined with deliberate timing and amount variation, could make that link much harder to establish.

“If you put a privacy coin in the middle, it would make it close to impossible to find those matches mathematically.” (IBeK)

This is a design idea, not a live Unstoppable or THORChain feature. It depends on native privacy-asset support, sound routing logic and enough randomness to avoid recreating the same link through timing or amount correlation. It would also need a clear interface that explains the extra hops, cost and settlement time.

The team has other app-layer concepts under research, including a Bitcoin-backed stablecoin. None was presented as a committed product. The larger point is that a wallet can become a distribution surface for THORChain applications once it supports the underlying chain and assets.

This is where mobile integration becomes more than another place to hold $RUNE. If bonding, staking, private routes or other app-layer primitives become reliable, Unstoppable could expose them inside a self-custodial interface without sending users into a browser extension.

Four-step checklist for a staged DEX aggregator rollout, from adding providers to handling failures.

4. A Broader Aggregator Needs a Staged Rollout

IBeK’s clearest recommendation for THORChain Swap was to broaden its routing beyond THORChain and Maya Protocol. The larger aggregator was built earlier, but additional providers were disabled after ecosystem concerns. Turning them back on would require approval and a fresh decision about how the interface should balance user choice, partner relationships and revenue.

The product case is straightforward. A person might want to move from $BTC into a tokenized stock on Solana. THORChain can perform the native $BTC-to-$SOL leg, while a Solana DEX such as Jupiter could handle the second trade. A broader aggregator could keep that journey in one interface and prioritize THORChain wherever it provides the route.

Automating both legs is harder than displaying them. The first swap can settle while the second fails. Prices can move between signatures. Slippage can change the available input, and some routes require exact amounts. The interface then needs a safe answer for the intermediate asset and a clear explanation for the user.

“First we introduce other DEXes, then we’ll experiment with double swaps in those areas where we know all the edge cases.” (IBeK)

The proposed rollout therefore starts with other DEX connections, then exposes manual two-step routes before automating carefully selected pairs. Unstoppable had already built much of the double-swap logic and tracking, but the edge-case handling and user experience still needed work.

Risk selection matters too. Unstoppable evaluates liquidity sources for centralization, freeze risk, privacy consequences and cost before putting them in front of users. More routes can improve coverage and generate revenue, but only if the aggregator does not trade away the security and predictability that brought users to a self-custodial product.

IBeK quote about stablecoins moving into everyday finance, with Unstoppable Wallet in internal testing.

5. A Stablecoin Wallet Is Already in Testing

The episode closed with a second product that had not previously been announced publicly: a wallet designed specifically for stablecoins. IBeK said it was already in internal testing and could be released after further refinement.

The target audience is broader than existing crypto investors. Many people use $USDT to move money or pay for goods without knowing which blockchain carries it, how gas works or why a seed phrase matters. Unstoppable’s new product aims to keep user custody while abstracting several of those blockchain-specific steps, including gas payments and account recovery.

“Stablecoins will be available not just in your exchange app or crypto wallet, but in pretty much every other finance app.” (IBeK)

THORChain could fit the wallet in two ways. First, a user could fund a stablecoin balance with $BTC or another native asset, with the conversion routed through THORChain. Second, the protocol is exploring whether stable-to-stable swaps such as $USDC to $USDT could be offered without a THORChain-side fee. IBeK said that capability would have meaningful demand, but no integration or pilot was announced.

The team is also testing local QR-payment flows in regions where licensed partners can connect stablecoins with merchant payment systems. IBeK described early transactions at roughly 0.1% in local transmission fees, while emphasizing that regulation and payment access differ by jurisdiction. The long-term ambition is a self-custodial balance that can pay merchants or reach a bank account without turning the wallet itself into a custodian.

The stablecoin wallet is close enough to test, but distribution remains the harder problem. Unstoppable plans to introduce it to its existing audience first, learn how people use it and expand through local payment integrations where the regulatory path is workable.

What to Watch

  • iOS approval: whether the Unstoppable release with $RUNE, $TCY, $RUJI and secured-asset support clears App Store review.
  • Bonding and staking: whether $RUNE bonding and $TCY staking become the first app-layer actions added after the new asset support settles.
  • Open-source reuse: which mobile wallets adopt Unstoppable’s Swift or Kotlin libraries and how quickly that expands native THORChain asset support.
  • Aggregator approval: whether THORChain Swap restores additional DEX providers, then introduces manual and automated multi-hop routes in stages.
  • Stablecoin launch: when Unstoppable’s stablecoin-focused wallet leaves internal testing and whether THORChain becomes a funding or stable-to-stable routing partner.
